PRINTEMPS DU SAINT-POURCAIN
When winter comes to an end, wines are ready for Easter, and can be tasted. All winegrowers get together, the Saturday preceding Easter, so as to present their vintages and organize the departmental wines’ contest.
FESTIVAL VITICOLE ET GOURMAND
For 11 days, and allover the vineyard, many events are organized, as part of the Festival Viticole et Gourmand: guided tours, hikes, shows, concerts, sport activities, terroir cuisine dinners… This festival, one of the summer big events in Auvergne, enables people to discover the Saint-Pourcinois terroir’s richness.
BAN DES VENDANGES
Marking the beginning of the grape harvest season, this traditional ceremony is still perpetuated with great fanfare by the territory’s brotherhoods: each year, in early September, it reunites professionals, elected representatives and curious persons, to taste grapes from the vine, prior to officially declare it ready for harvest.
LA FICELLE LAUNCH
Since 1987, La Ficelle is produced by the Union des Vignerons. It is a vintage derived from an assemblage with a majority of Gamay. Each first Saturday of December marks the launch of La Ficelle in Saint-Pourçain. Each year, the bottles are screen printed with a different humorist’s drawing, and are sold to lovers after a festive ritual reuniting famous comedians, brotherhoods and fanfares, in the middle of a large crowd. The production of those 200,000 bottles is also awaited in many Parisian brasseries. This event is also the opportunity to taste the new vintage’s wines.
